Rovos Train Derailment

21 April 2010

PRASA received the news of the Rovos train derailment this morning with shock and sadness. On behalf of the Board, Management and Employees of PRASA, the Group CEO, Mr. Lucky Montana, extends PRASA’s deepest condolences to the families of the deceased, injured passengers and crew as a result of the accident. PRASA wishes the injured a speedy recovery and extends its sympathy and support to Rovos Rail during this difficult period.

The derailment occurred on a part of the rail network owned by PRASA, which will have massive disruptions during the afternoon Metrorail peak service. PRASA calls on commuters to remain patient and calm. Pretoria bound trains will end at Centurion Station and Metrorail has arranged for buses to ferry commuters to their destinations. Once more, PRASA calls on commuters to be patient and understanding as the buses will transport people during the afternoon peak period when the roads will be very busy.
