Metrorail Train Services Running Without Traffic Jams
12 June 2010
Metrorail Ready To Take You To The Stadium And Back During The 2010 FIFA Soccer
World Cup
Metrorail Gauteng, a division of Prasa, commenced with transporting valid 2010 FIFA
Soccer World Cup ticket holders to Soccer City where they arrived approximately
1 and half to two hours prior to the official 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup opening
ceremony and the start of the game.
Passengers boarded Metrorail trains at either Johannesburg Park Station (CBD, Westrand,
East rand, Sandton) or Pretoria Station (Pretoria North and other surrounding areas)
and arrived at Nasrec Station, one of our refurbished stations, on time. From Nasrec
Station, passengers were able to walk directly to Soccer City which is approximately
five minutes from Nasrec Station. Passengers were able to avoid traffic jams by
opting to use Metrorail trains instead of cars.
Match ticket holders are therefore advised to visit www.prasa.com
or call the Metrorail Customer Care line on 0800 12 7070 to avoid sitting in a traffic
jam. Metrorail services will continue to run for the duration of the 2010 FIFA Soccer
World Cup for passenger convenience and as part of the transportation modes identified
to carry people to the games.
