Long Distance Trains Taking People To The 2010 Fifa Soccer World Cup

Shosholoza Meyl the long distance passenger rail service, a division of Prasa Rail, will be transporting people to the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup games from all major cities and towns in the country, in luxury, style and comfort.

With various package deals to suit individual needs, passengers can travel to all the games throughout the country while enjoying the unhurried luxury of a bygone train travel era. Packages comprise of a return ticket including 2010 FIFA World Cup Tickets or return tickets excluding 2010 FIFA World Cup Tickets.

Match fixtures and departure destination (South Africa vs Uruguay/Spain vs Switzwerland:

  • 16 June 2010, at 16:00, Spain Vs Switzerland at Moses Mabhida Stadium with departure stations from Johannesburg Park Station to Durban on 15 June 2010 at 19:30.
  • 16 June 2010, at 20:30, South Africa vs Uruguay at Loftus Versveld Stadium with departure stations from Bloemfontein, Durban, Musina and Rustenburg, to Pretoria Station.
  • 17 June 2010, at 20:30, France vs Mexico at Peter Mokaba Stadium with departure stations from Johannesburg Park Station to Polokwane. – ONLY 150 TICKETS AVAILABLE.
  • 19 June 2010, at 20:30, Cameroon vs Denmark at Loftus Versveld with departure stations from Durban and Bloemfontein to Pretoria – ONLY 126 TICKETS AVAILABLE.
  • 20 June 2010, at 20:30, Brazil vs Ivory Coast at Soccer City Stadium with departure stations from Durban, Bloemfontein and Komatipoort arriving at Johannesburg Park Station station – ONLY 90 TICKETS AVAILABLE.

Class of travel packages:

The Economy class:

  • No sleeping accommodation

Tourist Class:

  • Sleeping accommodation
  • Dining cars,
  • Communal showers and rest rooms

The Premier Classe:

  • Spacious compartments
  • Plasma screens in the lounges
  • Smokers and non-smokers lounges
  • Fine cuisine with award winning wines
  • Crisp linen and robes
  • A conference coach which can be converted into an entertainment coach by night
  • The first spa on a train – service available on the Johannesburg to Cape Town route.

All trains will depart a day prior to the match and arrive approximately 4 – 5 hours prior to kick off with trains departing approximately 4 - 5 hours after the match.
